Guild Wars 2 Thief Forum

I just got my thief up to 80, and I want to use her for WvW roaming, but I don't know where to start with a build (I don't even know if roaming will work very well). I've been using D/D and SB with a semi-focus on condition damage while leveling in PvE, and it worked fairly well, but I know I'll get crushed by the NPCs in WvW using the same build, let alone the other players. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know there are certain thief types that are generally not well liked by other players, so I should probably try to avoid those.Thanks! So I don't really remember the exact build, but it's a condition spec build, and often referred to as cheesy.

Your elite will often be more based on the fight than what you need. As always play with the spec and find something you like. I went D/D but it's harder to play. I just pulled a meta build from the wiki for it.Other Traits to look at:Shadow Arts: XI Regain health in stealthAcrobatics: VI Faster movement in stealth (going 1 point into this trait line also gives you sprint on dodge which is nice.)Trickery - X Pistol shots ricochetCritical Strike - V Pistols deal more damageDeadly Arts - VII Stealing has a change to all skills of one type (could be good if you run 4 different skills.) There is some debate if stolen weapons count as bundles, so this trait might be broken.

Carrion most likely, but maybe rampager because you'll still be super squishy. Dire if you have problems staying alive.Maybe Rabid and go with the trait in Critical Strikes that applies vulnerability.I'd try Carrion with undead runes and cheap sigils and rampager weapons. If you are worried or unsure about gear, I'd give it a shot first in sPVP with a poopy hot join, and just test it out build and the difference between the 3 sets. It'll also give you chance to test out builds. Dodging and shooting someone will apply bleeds(bonus bleeds from stealth!) P/D 3 will teleport back and apply torment. Stealing will apply confusion.

So you can open up something like steal, 5 to stealth, dodge on them, hit 1, and then 3. You'll have them bleeding, confused, crippled, and tormented.I'd consider a short bow for your other weapon.
